US companies are lining up for Brian Rüeger and his two start-up colleagues. In 2000, the Zurich trio created a technology that revolutionised text messaging. The messenger was then mobilised worldwide by AOL and Microsoft. The registered patent became so valuable that the start-up's office was even broken into.
